Tattoo 'To Do's' To Keep Your Tattoo From Fading

Tattoo 'To Do's' To Keep Your Tattoo From Fading

Advice on preventing your tattoo from fading.
Tattoos that feature colour are beautiful and vibrant. Tattoos that make use of only black ink provide a timeless simplicity that features the tattoo artist’s skill in shading and artistry. Although very little compares to the look and appeal of fresh ink, it is unavoidable that tattoos, both in colour and black, will fade over time. However, with proper care, tattoo fading can be prevented by following some simple tips on tattoo care.
1.    Following immediate after care
Once Loco Tattoos finishes up the final touches of your tattoo, we will bandage it and give you advice on how to care for it. The first 3 days following fresh ink are critical. Keep your bandage on for the time we recommend (this will depend on the size and placement of the tattoo). Once it’s time to take the bandage off, wash your hands with antibacterial soup, then apply the soap to the tattoo, washing it off with water. Apply the after-care product we recommended (like "After Inked" & "H2Ocean" products). Do not apply too much water or too much product since it can pull out colour from your tattoo.
2.    Moisturize and skin care
The more you take care of your skin, the better. Get into the habit of applying a thin layer of moisturizer on your tattoo, and also elsewhere on your skin! This will prevent your tattoo from flaking and your skin will look better overall, making your tattoo stand out. Also, be sure to immediately remove anything that shouldn’t be on your skin. This includes oil, cleaning products, etc. since they can strip colour from your tat.
3.    Avoid the sun!
Sun is the leading cause of colour fading in tattoos. If you do go out in the sun, and if your tattoo is exposed to its ultra violet rays, be sure to apply sunscreen to your skin, with careful attention on your tattoo.
4.    Avoid water saturation and chlorine
Swimming in pools and enjoying hot tubs can pull colour from tattoos. Chlorine is known to fade tattoos. Limit your time in the pool and try not to saturate your tattoo with too much water, especially in the few weeks after your tattoo was done. Loco Tattoos stands behind our professional tattoos which are done by some of the most established tattoo artists in Hamilton. We are there for our clients before, during, and after their tattoos.
